IFSEC International 2014 is being held at ExCel London on the 17th – 19th June and is the largest event for the security industry. IFSEC has been at the heart of the security industry for over 40 years and attracts more than 24,000 visitors, 650 leading manufacturers, suppliers and distributors from over 100 countries. The Lockrite team attended IFSEC on the 18th June and we really enjoyed the event. It was a welcome break from normality that involved meeting new people from a wide range of companies. Over 70 per cent of IFSEC and FIREX’s annual audience is made up of installers and integrators, totalling thousands of active and engaged of security and fire professionals within a community. We were particularly interested in Access control, Video surveillance and physical security but we also enjoyed learning more about Biometrics, safe cities and IT security as these all relate to our core product range. Access Control & Biometrics Driven by rising concerns over public and private safety, Access control is an integral part of business and public sector security. This product range includes door entry systems, readers, integrated access control systems and access control software solutions. Video Surveillance With the move of wireless video surveillance and digital allowing for a higher image resolution, a need has been created to consistently take the newest approach to surveillance and intruder alarm solutions. This product range includes ANPR cameras, IP cameras, remote surveillance and thermal imaging CCTV systems. Physical Security & Perimeter Protection The importance of strong perimeter protection and other physical security solutions cannot be ignored. The deterrent of a visible security system is a fundamental part of all security strategies. Due to the highlighted threat in today’s world, the importance of protecting property and assets is paramount to securing your premises. Smart Buildings Smart buildings combined the fire and security areas for both events and focused on the common area of system integration and convergence. Unlike the other areas, Smart Buildings was more about holistic solutions. Smart Buildings opens up the opportunities for interoperability and information sharing between fire, security, IT, data and building management systems. Cyber & IT Security The IT and Cyber security area represented the ever changing landscape of the security industry’s primary sectors – physical security, video surveillance, access control and intruder alarms. This sector showcased solutions that are designed to protect your business from IT and Cyber security pitfalls. The team at Lockrite really enjoyed the day and we’re really glad to have been a part of IFSEC 2014.

We have used a number of different Safe suppliers throughout our trading history and as of 2014 we will only be stocking and installing the Securikey range of fire resistant safes. Why are we only stocking SecuriKey safes? As a long standing security company we feel that the Securikey range provide high quality products that are good value for money. The earliest examples of safes were a wooden boxe bound in iron that was kept secure using a heavy lock. Thankfully times have changed and safes are more complex and sophisticated and as such you need to lookout for a number of key features. Security Safes (or Cash Safes as they are commonly known) have a number of technological features that make them resilient to brute force attacks. Over time, the tools used by burglars have become more sophisticated, which means manufacturers like SecuriKey have to create safes that are stronger and more complex. What features should you look out for? A typical security safe might feature: Anchoring holes to secure it to a concrete floor or wall A double-bitted key lock, which is very difficult to pick Anti-pry doors and hinges which can’t be forced with a crowbar Drill resistant plates protecting the lock and boltwork Some safes are designed more to protect their contents from fire rather than see off burglars. Such safes are referred to as “fire safes” or “fire resistant safes” and may not have even the most basic of burglar-resistant features.
